BGSU Screenings

Wood County Hospital is proud to partner with BGSU’s Division of Community Well-Being to bring health screening events directly to faculty and staff. Our goal is to make it easier than ever to stay on top of your health—conveniently and completely free.

We’ll offer rotating screenings designed to catch potential concerns early and help you make informed choices about your well-being.

Take advantage of this easy way to prioritize your health without having to leave campus. 

April 2

11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Cholesterol Screenings

High cholesterol levels are a significant risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Screening helps identify individuals at risk, allowing for early intervention to prevent these serious conditions. Non-fasting, fingerstick blood draws obtain results in about 5 minutes. Stop by the annual BGSU Poker Walk and Wellness Event on Wednesday, April 2 at the Perry Field House for a free screening. No appointment needed!

Vascular Screening

Vascular screenings check the health of your blood vessels and are designed to detect early signs of vascular diseases, which can lead to serious conditions like heart attacks, strokes, and aneurysms. Individuals age 55 and older should consider being screened, especially those with risk factors like smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol.

Dermascan

Regular skin cancer screenings are especially important for individuals with a higher risk, such as those with a family history of skin cancer, a history of sunburns, or excessive UV exposure. The dermascan machine uses an ultraviolet light to determine the amount of damage the skin has received throughout an individual’s lifetime. Stop by the BGSU Health Fair/Farm Market to get your face checked and learn more about reducing your risk for skin cancer. No registration needed!

Glucose Screening National Diabetes Awareness Month

Early detection of high blood sugar levels allows for timely intervention, which can prevent or delay the onset of diabetes and its complications. Regular screenings are recommended, especially for individuals with risk factors like being overweight, having a family history of diabetes, or being over the age of 45.
