Environmental Services Tech John D. Recognized with WOW Award for Outstanding Service
The WOW Patient Experience Initiative recognizes Wood County Hospital team members who demonstrate exceptional care and commitment to patients, visitors and colleagues. For going above and beyond, John D., an Environmental Service Tech, was selected as a WOW award recipient.
One evening, John was replacing the trash bags and supplies for LAB when he was asked to assist a woman with a walker who had just finished getting her lab work. He then walked with her out of the waiting room and, noticing the long walk to the exit, offered to retrieve a wheelchair for her comfort. John not only brought her the wheelchair but personally escorted her to her car to ensure she got there safely. He put his tasks on hold to prioritize her well-being, demonstrating true compassion and care.
For the past 3 1/2 years, John has been a dedicated member of the Environmental Services Department at Wood County Hospital. Before joining WCH, he spent over 20 years working for a large animal veterinarian and comes from an agricultural background. John loves meeting friendly faces each day and sees every shift as a chance to learn and connect with others. We’re grateful to have him as a valued part of our team!
